The area has experienced rapid gentrification in recent years and is a haven for young families. Close enough to the Loop for a quick work commute but not engulfed by towering high-rises, the West Loop is a perfect middle ground for many of Chicago’s young working adults and families just starting out. A former manufacturing and warehousing area, many of the buildings have been converted to loft condominiums, restaurants, night clubs, and art galleries. If you’re looking for great dining options, take a stroll down Randolph Street and you will undoubtedly be satisfied.
Fun Fact: West Loop is also the former home of Harpo Studios, owned by well-known talk show host Oprah Winfrey, and the production site of her syndicated television show.
